Beaux Travel Diary: Dog Friendly London

Ever since welcoming Mister Buzz into our family, it has been ...stressful. #realtalk. Obviously so lovely and cute to have this munchkin add to our brood but omg its been tiring and hard in ways i didnt expect. (aka nighttime potty trips onto the busy streets of london bc we don't have a garden...and vigilant training 24/7...and everyone petting your dog and talking to him when you literally cant).

But it also has made me have to see london through new eyes: mah new dog friendly eyezzzzz! Aka I call everywhere ahead to see if they allow dogs. SO! I thought I would share where is friendly and where isn't...based on the 6 weeks that I've been researching with our little bb.

Not Dog Friendly:

-Harrods

-Harvey Nics

-John Lewis on Oxford

-Wagamamas

Dog Friendly:

-Selfridges

-The Orange

-Alfred Tennyson

-Farmacy

-Cos (both duke of york and knightsbridge)

-Zara & Zara home (duke of york)

-The White Company (Sloane Square)

-Granger & Co (Sloane Square)

-Daylesford (Marylebone, Pimlico & Notting Hill)

-Serpetine Cafe

-Nags Head Pub

The rest of the list is to be continued! I am still figuring everything out, but this is a pretty good start at least for Mister Buzz. I shot at The Orange last weekend bc I love the decor but didn't get any pics of Buzz bc he was finally sleeping and that is cherished behaviour as he is hyper 110% of the time...

Beaux Style Diary: Isabella Plantation

greetings earthings!! its meeeeeeee hi. omg so ive found the place that may be my top three ever fave place in london. but timing is everything bc in may its exploding with rhododendron and azaleas. i loved it so much i went twice in two days bc ive been playing it cool since 1987. basically it is what i dream about at night. it is: the isabella plantation in Richmond park. and it is magical.

i took my beaux basket (CAMILA) both days and had a party. shot a little w my 35mm camera as well and basically if you can make it to isabella during this month, it will change your life

my fave investment this month has been a fun pair of sunglasses. I usually wear my oversized celines bc sun protection plus i just love big frames so i curated my top picks of sunnies that i want to buy (predictably, i have a few) that range from statement to everyday oversized.

Beaux Style Diary: Columbia Flower Market

there are really only two things i enjoy waking up for before 7 am: antique markets, and flowers. (hopefully that will be a three-item list come this summer when we are hoping to get a puppy...)

anyway, so guys, its peony season. aka they are my fave flowers so i had no problem waking up this sunday when i had my alarm set at 630am. I hit columbia flower market with wet hair at 745am to avoid the hustle and bustle bc guys if im honest i dont love crowds and most of the time im not sure i even like people. but i do like @byvanessaleigh so we both met up early sunday morning to avoid everyone and have pick of the peony litter. (by the way, my londoner 2 cents is to arrive after 130pm if youre looking to buy house plants bc at the end of the day you can make deals w the vendors but if youre looking for peonies in may, get there early bc they always sell out and expect no deals)

Vanessa opted for about 7 hydrangea stems that were bigger than her whole body and i opted for 3 bushels of huge fluffly soft pink non stripey peonies (hard to find!!). we were both school girls again , giggling and saying omg theyre so pretty to no one really in particular. we were both on cloud 9 as we skipped over to violets which is my fave dalston spot for breakfast (bc lets be honest it was like only 9 am by this point)- and i cant recommend it enough.

Obviously I am never without a Beaux Basket so Praia came along with for the journey bc she can fit the most flowers. 👍   I am really into pink at the mo (plus my trusty levis and go-to dramatic trench bc its not quite cold but its certainly not warm yet...) so I have curated some of my fave picks for spring.

so my one word of advice is GO buy pink peonies in pink shoes and then GO eat amazing fresh sourdough & eggs at Violet one sunday and then GO and snap some pretty pictures. Its good for the soul :)

happy may y'all

Beaux Style Diary: Summer Picnic

Heeeeeeyooooo Cowboys! its me. so i spaced out just thinking about things that are great whilst trying to write this so channeling that....here are a few of my favourite things:

Blondie Baskets, grapefruits, puppies, nature, vinho verde, empty restaurants, 1990s sunglasses, finding steals in vintage shops, frilly wrap dresses, grilled sea bass, white sand, flying flamingos, empathetic people, bossa nova, palm trees rustling in the wind on a beach, truffle pasta, chemical-free household products, au natural makeup, au natural hair, tuberose, papaya, pretend shopping for english manors on savills, idaho, hiking solo, looking at the clouds instead of playing tennis, not using facetune, tight levis, floating on my back in the ocean, milk chocolate w sea salt, and other things too.

anyway, here is me having a picnic at seven sisters in a field of sheep in england with at least two of my favorite things from above....aka my portuguese baskets and grapefruit.

Origins of The Beaux Store | Portuguese Baskets

Belgravia, London, Monday April 10th, 7:04pm

ME: How deep is your love for baskets

Myself: DEEP

ME: niceeeee.

myself: yes.

ME: Backstory?

Myself: honestly I have 3 portuguese baskets that are my main purses. I also sometimes just use an old plastic bag bc reduce reuse recycle/ i just like carrying my stuff in a plastic bag from a grocery store. shout out to any other cool wierdos who do the same! back on track here, I had been wanting a portuguese fishermans basket for years and they truly did not exist online. NO ONE SOLD THEM. and i had searched and searched after predictably starting a life-long love affair with neowave french films when i was a teenager. only years later was i able to discover that they were actually from portugal originally. when i found this out literally last year, i had just happened to already have booked a trip to portugal the following month. AWESOME. i would actually be able to go find them myself. (!!!!) famous last words bc it was a lot harder than i thought bc its a dying craft etc. anyway this past october i went for 3 weeks and after 2.5 weeks of dead ends, I found my artisans and lined everything up to start the Beaux Store.

ME: any style tips for yourself ashley?

myself: yes ashley for summer i want to stick to more tshirts and jeans. dont forget ashley. when you want to try trendy things like bows on your sleeves, just walk away bc youre sticking to investing in lifetime treasure pieces that are simple and timeless that work well on your body shape. and also you hate bows unless theyre huge and androgynous looking. also underwear lines w levis are my obsession. i freaking love style that almost cares but then is like lets just be cool and chill guys.

ME: What is a good joke?

myself: this question is giving me heat rash. let me google one. [googling]

myself (cont.): I hated all the jokes on google so how about i just tell you about the one time i ran into colin firth with toilet paper on my foot. thats the whole story.

ME: where do you get the baskets in portugal?

Myself: in the algarve. im really spoiled and get the pleasure of visiting the area around lagos often bc of family :))))) (triple chin smile).  The Beaux artisans are spaced around that general area, but are not concentrated in one city. all of them are grandparents and make them out of their home. how cool is that!

ME: if i were to go to portugal what are some 'musts' to do there?

Myself: omg my favorite thing is to go to restaurante o camilo in lagos on a cliff and have fresh sea bass with veggies and chips and a bottle of vinho verde. Its the best. then i would recommend spending a day at burgau beach. be sure to get fresh pastel de nata at 9am at the corner shop on the street leading down to the beach in burgau town. Then make sure you go to the loule sunday market. and the fresh fish market in lagos tues-sat from 9-1pm! so amazing. I like to get sea bass for two there and do a garlic and parsley bake for lunch that day.

ME: ok cool

myself: ok cool

oh HELLO DREAM CHAIR!! Making notes for future Beaux Store items...

I can find thousands of baskets, but a beaux basket isn't one. We use local artisans to make this time-honored tradition that is dying out. And let me tell you, it was HARD to find grandparents who still make our Blondies.

again, the stores with thousands of baskets (Im always looking for any new additions to The Beaux Store) but I always leave empty handed bc I just prefer the artisanal baskets local to the Algarve.

GUYS HOW THE HECK IS YOUR WEEK GOING. I hope its going smashingly! sometimes i go to hyde park to watch dogs bc i love them and yesterday i did that and there was this really old long haired daschund running behind his not-very-fast owner but his legs are so small and he was so cute but moving slowly too, so his owner was waiting for literally 5 mins for him to catch up.  it really warmed my heart.

very  much related, I wanted to take a min to chat about The Beaux Store via an interview of myself. (not to worry, there are lots of typos bc thats kind of my thing...?)

So stick around, bc me and myself cover some controversial topics and things get tense somewhere in the middle. not really. but there was a murder threat! Plus, crushes will be discussed!! not in the biblical sense, but more in the style sense.

this is the first interview of two. today we will discuss vintage rugs, and next week we will chat about portuguese baskets. Stay tuned guys. also i love you/

xo, Ashley

Interview of me, by me. April 3, 2017. 4:21pm. Belgravia, London, UK.

ME: THE BEAUX STORE TELL ME MORE (rhyme intentional)

myself: ok. vintage rugs. ill start at the beginning then touch on the end and then head abck to the middle and weave my story together in that way?

ME: ok

myself: ok. Ive alrways been surrounded by home renovations and interior design. My parents spent the better half of my child and adult-hoods building and/or renovating homes. I have decorated the last three, the most recent two being an insane reclaimed wood-floored flat in Shoreditch and my favorite farmhouse in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Additionally, something that seemed unrelated at the time, but has now turned into one of the core values of The Beaux Store is travel. I've been very lucky to be able to have traveled extensively since I was 16 (basically I met my husband in Guatemala if that gives you insight into where I've spent most of my time #abroad) and on every trip I made it a quest to bring home a thoughtful piece for my own home. I have always loved the idea of hand-curated home with meaningful and one of a kind pieces. Time is my favorite ingredient when decorating a home.

Fusing those two loves of my life into one birthed The Beaux Store.

ME: whats your fave song at the mo?

myself: thats what i like by bruno mars. haha. not even joking. you shoul dlisten to it, it will get ya.

ME: cool (not). anything else youd like to share about the beaux store?

myself: In the back of my mind (maybe subconciously), through every trip I've taken abroad and every career path I've pursued (haha there have been a few but they all come back to the same theme: "lifeSTYLE"), i knew i always wanted to enter, quite literally, the 'styling-of-one's-life' market via Homer Decor. So i figured what better way to start than with the ground up(#rugs).

Moving to Europe 2 years ago has opened a whole trove of rich home-curating potential. Being suddenly very close to the Rug Cradle (ie, Iran) and amazing country homes who regularly offer insane estate sales allowed for the 6 month prep of the The Beaux Store to hold unbelievable treasure hunting.

After binge learning and consuming everything I could about vintage and antique rugs, I decided that actually this was the perfect gateway into my passion: creating a full on lifestyle destination. i spent the last 6 months intensely studying and traveling and only when I felt proud of what I had sourced, did I launch this March.

ME: Where do you Buy them? Also hello

myself: hi.I feel like no one talks about this...one time a vintage store owner told me shed tell me but shed have to kill me. haha. I source them all over south to mid England. My favorite place to find them is at estate sales or flea markets. And then as with all businezz, it comes down to building relationships with people you trust. England is brimming with insane antique markets and I can't get enough. I have france on my list too...trying to organize a trip there asap.

ME: what are your fave styles/types of rugs

myself: My favorites tend to be from Iran (Persian) with rich blues and reds, and I love Qashqais (pronounced ghash-gha-ee) or Khamsehs. I do also love caucasian rugs and turkish oushaks. I always have to be careful with caucasian rugs though when sourcing bc sometimes there are swastikas in pre-1940 patterns and sadly those no longer mean 'peace'.

ME:  who are some style crushes

myself: at the mo, @double3xposure, thats it. oh wait also @yoli_and_otis

ME: any rug styling tips?

myself: I love rugs on carpet. I have an all carpet flat and even still, I cant get enough rugs. bascially, im a big advocate of rugs on carpet. I also LOVE rug layering. rugs on rugs for example, or a lovely area rug on top of a sisal (which is like a natural fiber woven rug)- AHHH so good! I also one time saw this indoor outdoor house in egypt that had a dirtfloored room with a palm tree in the middle that popped out of the roof and they had layered about 10 diff sized rugs around said palm tree to cover all the dirt and it became another room. I think that is awesome.

ME: ok thanks bye

myself: c u later

The Beaux Guide to Travel, Relocation, & London

Guys!!!! Hi. It's me. i literally just put on a playlist called "its lit!!!" on apple music to pump myself up while writing this blog post...CANNOT WAIT.

so i actually began writing this blog post last month when i was in and out of london to germany and mexico and bascially traveling lots. over the last four years (its been two years since I formally moved to London), i have acquired a few things that have made my travel +london life experiences so much better and wanted to talk them out bro! Esp. since some of these I wish I had known soooo much sooner. SO! this post is dedicated to anyone and everyone first of all. second of all it goes out to anyone who has uprooted their life to another country. third of all omg this playlist is SO BAD. Fourth of all I hope this little listy Tipsy for moving to London, traveling about London, and then living in london helps. 143 i love u

Airplane tips:

-Before I moved to the uk and spent many a long-haul flight traveling to meet my beau(x??? haha)...who is now my hubba hubba husband, I was sure to bring a little dop kit on my flights across the Atlantic to freshen up with in the baggage claim bathroom w my bags before you go out to arrivals/meet the love of your life. It's not glamorous but it DEF HELPS HYGIENE / MAKES YOU FEEL HUMAN AGAIN!

I'd recommend packing: some natural deodorant, some Buddha balm (I like to homemake my own with thieves oil, blog post to come), natural toothbrush and toothpaste, lavender/vetiver/ rose/lemon/ or bergamot organic essential oil for perfume, cream blush (my fave is by Rosie Jane), natural wipes to clean your face and a face spritz (my fave from clemence organics)

-Bring a spare pair of cotton underwear, contacts and seeing glasses on your flight just in case your luggage doesn't meet you.  if you have perfect eyesight...you lucky son of a gun and just bring spare underwear.

-Bring some organic thieves oil and drop two or three drops on a tissue and breathe in deeply every so often. Help thwart airplane germs and grossness bc its antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, etc.

-Always say yes to every ounce of water they offer you on the flight and then some. (To be fair, I also say yes to champagne...🙊🙈))

-I always bring a pair of nap socks and a scarf on the long haul flights bc I've only been warm on a plane once. I also like to wear birkenstocks with said socks so I can take off my shoes easily at security (even though im TSA precheck bc airport staff literally have no idea whats going on ever) and also take them off easily when Im in my seat and not have to fuss about putting on socks BC THEYRE ALREADY ON. BLAAMO.

-Away Carry on bc my phone never dies. My other luggage is handmedown tumi and so far so good...the plan is im pretty much going to run those into the ground. Otherwise I honestly bring my stuff in a plastic bag. My husband told me to never tell anyone about that but look at me now!! I took photos below w my beloved celine but if im honest i ususally use a old plastic bag as my purse. haha. that paired w my socks +birkenstocks is pretty cool, says me.

-The best lounge in the whole world is the virgin Atlantic in terminal three at heathrow. I.e. Eggs Benedict for breakfast and free spa treatments. Almost worth that business class ticket or else the many, many flights to become a platinum skymember. almost.

-Where to begin with airlines other than they all suck. In terms of comparing airline seats: Delta economy is worth upgrading to comfort. Virgin economy is so so tight but so is the comfort so, not worth the upgrade. British airway economy is doable plus I don't think they have comfort option. Book BA Tix far in advance to get best price. Delta's fares are always high but then they get even higher less than four weeks before the flight.  In terms of business class (thanks frequent flier miles) my fave is virgin (lie totally flat and good food), then american airlines (HUGE TVS, not fully flat seats, food is ok), then BA(lots of space but not totally flat... awful food), then delta (less space, not flat, and terrible food).

Random side note: the best economy I've ever flown was Aeromexico from Buenos Aires to DF on a plane from the 70s and the seats were literally laze boys. Massive and so comfy. I slept the whole 12 hours.  Wehhhhhh!

-Take the tube to/from heathrow! I always take the Piccadilly line bc its 3.80£ instead of 40-50£ in a taxi/uber. Heathrow express (30£ roughly) only makes sense for ppl who lives near paddington or else on the central line. Aka above Hyde park areas. Gatwick is another story also i dont like gatwick.

-Visas: be prepared to be frustrated at every point. The process took me 1.5 solid years to get my residence card and not one part was easy or cheap.

-My final and most crucial tip for international/uk airport travel is:

Become a registered traveler. Seriously. I can now go through the electronic customs and skip lines and awful customs agents who don't understand residence cards/ why I am coming to England (RETURNING HOME...le sigh). ( you can also get registered traveler status if you travel more than 4 times to London a year even if you don't live here.)

London life/life hacks:

TRANSPORT: I try to take the bus everywhere. ( Except to the airport bc then I have to take the Piccadilly line). It's the best and half the price of the tube and less claustrophobic. Also I walk a lot. You see gems of London that way.

NATURAL MEDICINE/YOGA: My go to acupuncturists are beata Florova and Sharon Subner at evolve. My yoga studio is also evolve. My osteopath is makiko at grace belgravia bc she gives full on massage treatments.

LONG DISTANCE WALKING: I have a great pair of sneakers that I actually walk around London in, but I bring a nice pair for chic meetips in my bag.

DRY SHAMPOO DIY: I use arrowroot powder instead of batiste or any other dry shampoo. It's natural and won't cause cancer. (I feel legally it's important to note I'm not a doctor here just a hippy dippy mama jama) I put some in a jar and add a few drops of my fave essential oil and then brush it in to my scalp with an extra face brush.

TOURIST AREAS: Only brave the high streets (regent, Oxford, etc) before 1130am. Otherwise it quickly becomes my version of hell with people stopping mid pavement to take a photo of a pigeon eating french fries...with an iPad. 😶

WHERE TO SHOP: I only shop on high streets (cos etc) or dept stores(Harvey nicks/ Harrods) after Xmas and then at the beginning of July. #sales. Plus january is a super quiet time in London and that's just great to deal with the more typically crowded streets of London. in general however I try to shop slower/local fashion with a sustainable and or organic ethos. Or I just shop straight up vintage or repurposed clothing.

---->Massive life/christmas hack: shop all Xmas stuff at burford garden Centre in the cotswolds (my safe place) and at the white company in January for like 70% off beautiful Xmas stuff. It's funny how literally after dec 24th everything has depreciated so drastically...

GROCERIES: I use farmdrop for groceries. It's seriously cool and mostly local produce. This is important to me bc nutritional value decreases exponentially everyday that food has to be in transit between garden to plate. Imagine how little nutrients our food from Peru has, even if it's organic etc. I do supplement that w tesco organic and waitrose organic though.

PHONE: Do not use vodaphone!! It's the worst. Don't believe those stupid ads that say it's he best uk network. They say that about themselves. It deadzones on Oxford street and goes out of service once you leave zone 4 London. No joke- it's "no service" in everywhere but London, plus Oxford street. My husband has ee and loves it and also I know for a fact that three gets service in the countryside. Say no to vodaphone.

UTILITIES: I got to choose between time Warner or cox based on my zip code when I was in LA. TWIST: both are awful. In London I had to use sky but it's been great so far. I've never had to call them in the two years I've used them unlike time Warner which I had to call every two months.  I'm totally fine now/over thatobviously.

BANKING: I use HSBC and I hate it. I have to wait 30 mins to reach anyone on the phone (i.e. When they block my card randomly bc they think something is fraudulent on a rountine payment). I am opening a Santander account. Wish me luck.

HAIRCARE: I freaking love glasshouse salon in hackney. Tricky thing is that I live on the west side so it takes an hour to get there. It's amazing and all organic and natural and it's where I temporarily dye my hair pink and purple. For west side I have heard that Taylor Taylor in libertys is great at ombré, josh wood in Notting hill does great natural blonde, and finally my husband just got the best haircut of this life at allure in south Ken on bute street (it's not chic or anything) and I saw someone getting amazing ash blonde color so I may try that at some point.

EATING: My favorite casual eating spots: Ottolengi double choc cookies are in themselves worth a ticket to london, Franco manca is life, daylesford is where i want to spend my free time, dishoom is great but go at a off time so no queue, and udderlicious for great fresh ice cream.

WIDE OPEN SPACE: Get out to the countryside at least once a month. It's good for the soul. I'd recommend paddington to kingham for a day at the wild rabbit and daylesford.

{Guys that is literally the most ive ever typed in a blog post. are you guys alright? i hope so bc i have a little more to say haha}

In general, uprooting your life is difficult no matter how amazing the destination or circumstances are. I am still trying to acknowledge any frustration/anger I feel and then let it go, esp when I feel like ppl around me take my upheaval/ move around the world for granted/ that it was expected of me (however inadvertent on their end. BUT No one will know how hard it is to do that except for you, plus anyone else who has gone through it themselves. There's something very different about studying abroad or traveling to a country, and then moving to a country. I definitely have had a mourning period for my loss of idaho.)

Adding on to the above, it's ok if you suddenly find yourself in a 'sacred void' following the upheaval. Work may not come as easily or in the form that you have expected. And it may be a super barren time for a while (I know I've had times of super frustration during my adjustment period!!) My advice I can only give myself now that hindsight is 20/20 is: try to soften and stay open with this void and let the universe create something for you during this super magnetic time. Be like a river running through new terrain. Try to let go of all the anger. (Hahaha, this advice is still too relevant for me bc I don't want to listen to right now)

Moving to London was no easy feat. It was not easy even when I was married to a British man. I wouldnt wish that move or visa process on my worst enemy. BUT the bottom line is that I am SO GRATEFUL TO LIVE IN LONDON. It is handsdown my favorite city I've ever lived in. It is so magical and beautiful and full of history. And i LOVE the ppl Ive met here (you hear that @byvanessleigh?) I'm so happy to be here even though there were times when I wanted to retreat back home along the way.

Travel Diary: Tulum, Mexico

whats good cool catz! its me. hope you have had a stellar week so far. i launched The Beaux Store this week which i am really proud of and hope you enjoy. It took 6 months to carefully curate the rugs from all over england (i drove many hundreds of miles and had a blast) + germany and hand-retrieve the baskets from portugal. ((ill do a post on that asap to share more about how i find the rug and baskets and misc items.))

I'll have new + different rugs and baskets each week on Wednesdays at 4pm GMT so please stay close (i love you)

so i went to tulum! its a bit of a doozy to get to from london so bae and i turned a wedding invitation into a 10day holiday and predictably, IT WAS AMAZING. INSANE. PARADISE. im a alittle excited so there are a few typos. I honeslty can tell you Tulum is a top three desintation for me (up there with hawaii and sun valley, idaho). It was kewl bc i had been there 13 years ago before it was 'TULUM' (aka with cool chic fashion + art types frequenting it)... obvioulsy its much different now but I still love it. great perks nowadys include healthy and fresh food, biodegradable + eco-friendly ethos plus great clothing boutiques. in other words, go.

The easiest way to chat about tulum is to divide it by: the good, the bad, the ugly. I only have one fun fact that doesnt need a whole section... pablo escobar used to have an estate here (its now where casa malca is and includes the deserted property next door) and which adds an interesting (read: dark) layer to the tulum culture/history...so keep your eyes peeled when youre far south in tulum for that. But now lets get into it!

THE GOOD:

-Euphemia Taco Shop: the most hippy dippy taco spot ever...party starts at 11am and keeps going until late but BEST FISH TACOS IN TULUM. first day we got there bae and i dressed up a bit too smart for here and walked in and were omg we gotta leave stat bc we look like narcs and headed to gitano. trust me when i say no shirt, no shoes, no problem...

-Gitano: we went here 3 times in 10 days cuz we play it cool like that. life changing hummus, amazing handmade tortillas.  cool vibe (disco ball in palm trees).

-Coconut Bar at Sanara: i had probiotic coconut water shots, organic almond milk cacao in the am, and seriously awesome green smoothies. bit like LA in tulum, local/unrefined sugars etcs which i love

-Luv Hotel: my fave hotel in tulum hands down. super small and vintage-rustic.  if  youre staying here, lunch on the beach cannot be beat. we had sandia juice and quesadillas and guacamoles and ceviches everyday. its like 10 rooms and each room is different. i hate mass produced hotels/food/lifestyle and i was happy bc this was NOT that.

-Sunrise walks on the beach in the morning. Quoting phil dunphy, I tried to watch "one sunrise a day" and guess what, bc of jetlag when you fly from europe...that is NO problem. plus you can see flamingos fly early in the morning and at dusk. if thats not the coolest...idk what is.

-Arca is great. loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. youll see :)

-Casa Banana breakfast was so super. Fresh bread and seaweed omlettes.

-Rent a bicycle and cycle the whole length of the tulum 'strip' and venture into sian kaan.

-Wanderlust boutique. Maxi and Linen dresses that penelope cruz in vicky christina barcelona (aka my muse) would probably wear. next i just need a worn velvet matador hat...

-Try to see the more secret cenotes in dos ojos with a private, local guide. its worth it.  It blew my mind bc i had never seen cave cenotes as untouched or as private as i did in this trip. see photos below.

THE BAD:

-Cash only almost everywhere, and pesos are the most efficient to use (US dollars accepted but bleh exchange rate is iffy most of the time). oh also, 10% off wanderlust boutique if you pay w cash if youre looking for trouble ;)

-I wanted to love hartwood but they never respond to booking emails (the only way you can book a table) and i dont queue for food (unless its franco manca). i didnt love the diva vibe they put out. you guys are serving food not saving lives. there are seriously such good food options in tulum, dont stress if you cant get a table here. just keep walking.

-Cockroaches and mosquitos: i made an organic essential oil of citronella spray before i went...1 part purified water, 1 part witch hazel and about 10 drops of organic citronella oil in a spray bottle...worked great and doesnt harm your endrocrine system! Had to wear lots at dinner...

-Raw Love Cafe: this vegan spot gave me a terrible stomachache (i had the vegan pizza) but i think its just bc i ordered the stupidest thing on the menu that i felt awful bc you should never ever have vegan pizza.

The ugly:

-Casa Malca cooked some part of chicken tacos in peanut oil so bae was done early at dinner one night with a nut allergy. Im listing this as ugly because its the typical high-end hotel attitude here, "i cant be bothered with anything" bleh

Bottom line is Tulum will be paradise. I hope you have so much fun and please let me know if you want any other recs, ill let you know all i know from my perspective!

lots of warm fuzzies
