hi guys!! So i did a sourcing roadtrip through puglia for The Beaux Store and I am so blooming excited. I found these insane antique and custom pieces for the Neutral Collection which will launch next Friday (JULY 7th) and its going to be pretty awesome. I got custom-made italian ceramic face plates and I sourced some muted turkish oushaks and basically the collection is everything i want in my house for ever and ever. I brought home almost everything in my suitcase which is always a good time. haha not. I pack a suitcase inside a suitcase by packing super light on the way there and then fill it up with Beaux Store finds. I do this in portugal with baskets and such everytime I go. My holibae loves when i do this (he is actually really supportive and i will be forever grateful for his selfless giving of his suitcase space. and love too)
I am head over heels in love with PUGLIAAAAAA and you'll see why asap, i took 1029334728974739 photos so there are three parts to this post: What to wear in puglia, what to do in puglia and where to stay in puglia. Obviously all beaux style.
have i told you i love you recently?
PART ONE: WHAT TO WEAR WHEN BEAUXING IN PUGLIA
Obviously I never ever leave home, let alone the country, without an armful of Beaux Baskets (tap here to shop)!
Here is what I had inside my Baby Blondie aka my smallest beaux basket, on my Italian travel day 😘 . I use them with every single outift, in winter and in summer, with my black tie gowns or with jeans and sneakers. Baskets and rugs and beautifully curated home decor ...you will always have my heart.
Anyway, here are my five summer must-have Beaux Outfits that are A) comfortable and B) the bees knees.
#1 BEAUX MUST-HAVE: RED DRESS, PINK SHOES
guys a red statement dress with pink heels is my fave easy brezy summer combo. I have found myself wearing variations of this to summer weddings and to Italian dinners in Grottos. i hand picked all of my dream pieces below bc i want them all but i already have a red dress with pink heels but i may need some more options? Anyway send help and shoutout to Baby Blondie who is my basket above.
#2 BEAUX MUST-HAVE: LOW BACK SUMMER DRESS
BACKLESS DRESSES OMG I ONLY LOVE THEM AHHHHH i mean ya theyre alright.
#3 BEAUX MUST-HAVE: SILKY NIGHTGOWN
omg guys i literally bought this dress in the sleepwear dept a netaporter. tehe. secrets secrets!!! I cannot tell you how much i love these kind of dresses bc you FANCY but you also COMFY. below are all the nightgowns -ahem- silk dresses that i still want and/or need (need is a relative term...)
#4 BEAUX MUST-HAVE: FAITHFULL THE BRAND. PERIOD.
So if there is anything ever that I love its faithfull the brand. seriously the coolest. and i will never look back now that I have found them. i have always assumed that my style life was resigned to waistless androgynous clothes (which i also LOVE and those will always be my forever and always) but i recently had a game changer shift of perspective. Ive realised my body is beautiful and healthy and strong and it is ok to embrace and enjoy my body and wear deep vs if i want to one day and want wear turtlenecks the next...bc life is short and i shouldnt have to harbor this profound guilt and shame and apologetic existence for being a woman and that i can say no without having to explain myself, and i can claim my space, and i can ask for what i want and need, and that i have the right to not apologize for my body to myself or to anyone. anyway faithfull rocks.
#5 BEAUX MUST-HAVE: A CAMISOLE & CROPPED TROUSERS
omg this is my summer uniform. levis and a cami, culottes and a cami, linen trousers and a flowy cami...its just the best. i found all of my summer wants below that i would wear together #hearteyes
PART TWO: WHAT TO DO WHEN BEAUXING IN PUGLIA
So youve made it puglia!! this is a really cool and big deal. youre gunna love it. aside from the fact that my most said word down there was "aperto?" bc everything either was or just seemed closed... (italy stops between 1-5pm...its hard to deal with when im trying to do business. but great when youre at the pool all day!) Anyway, here are my beach and food spot recs bc that is what i recommend you do the most of ;) plus pop over to alberobello for some trulli action.
-Any Smaller Lidos on the beaches around Pescoluse
-Bagno Marino Archi
-Lido Punta Della Suina (terrible ibiza-style lidos here but the beaches here are unreal...see photo right below this)
-Torre Dell Orso
-Locante del Levante (Tricase)
-Taverna della Gelosia (Ostuni)
-Hotel Corte Degli Asini (Ostuni)
-DO NOT GO TO GROTTO PLAZZESE haha. its beautiful but the food is awful and the service is even worse...just look at a photo and call it a day. I didnt even share the photo i took when i went on here bc im too mad at it.
PART TRE: WHERE TO STAY WHEN BEAUXING IN PUGLIA
ok guys. I have the three best spots to stay. there are lots of beautiful masserias and hotels so you cant really go wrong down there but these were exactly my favououte kinds of hotels bc of their style, food, and my favourite: they were small. six rooms kind of small.
I stayed at two hotels, Corte Degli Asini and Masseria Moroseta and will go back to a third...Castello Di Ugento. THEY WERE AMAZING. The first two are near ostuni which is my fave town down there and the castello is down in the southern southern bit of puglia with the most beautiful sandy beaches. OK LETS DIVE IN omg i wish could go swimming in these pools right now....
My favourite food (the highest bar of local fresh ingredients plus their own organic wine and olive oil and olives at every meal...plus amazing aperol spritzes and you dont even need to leave hotel for unreal italian food that you dont get bored of), my fave homey vibe, super private, my fave pool (plus donkeys and the biggest olive producing masseria ive ever seen)
The coolest hotel ive ever stayed at, the most thoughtful and flawless design ive ever seen, sometimes felt uncomfortable, their focus is design...not hospitality (aka dont think i would stay there again but its beautifullll), no food other than breakfast, they have a super cute bulldog named Beppe, all rooms come with private gardens which is awesome.
This hotel is what dreams are made of. It was still under construction when I was there so I didn't get to stay but it opens this summer and its literally a Norman Castle. I had a full tour of the grounds and my mouth was open the whole time. aka i played it real cool.
There are frescos everywhere and its a family-owned castle-turned-hotel & is being restored to its original beauty plus some and it couldnt be more dreamy. I am definitely staying here when I come back and ill pretend I'm a real princess. bc ive always reminded myself of a modern-day grace kelly (-jenna maroney, 30 rock).
OK guys that was my year long love letter to Puglia about Puglia! A few parting requests: try Stracciatella in your pasta whilst youre down there, and have fresh local ricotta with fresh local cherries for breakfast everyday. And explore, explore, explore!
Here are some of the pieces I wore on the trip, so you can shop my outfits super easily ;) enjoy you cuties
